About
Significance
There is perhaps no other dish as representative of Chinese American cuisine as Chop Suey is. There are as many versions of this dish as there are stories of its origin (mainly in the USA) but some variation is served in most Chinese restaurants in the country, and also around the world. The key to Chop Suey is to thicken the sauce with corn starch to get the consistency you get at a restaurant. If you want to go the extra mile, try soaking the meat in some extra corn starch, along with some extra soy sauce and vinegar for about 20 minutes to get the meat super tender. If you've never tried making Chop Suey at home and have only eaten it out, give it a shot this National Chop Suey Day. It's simple, delicious, and can be a healthy quick weeknight meal!
